...it’s more than 1 year that we do gigs and rehearsals fully on pc and VST Live without ever any crash on stage or during rehearsals.

Gigged with 2.2.30 with a very heavy project, lots of CPU load and 33 song switches — no issues at all!

rehearsed a full 2 hrs without any bug and very smoothly, including video transitions and song changes!! Good version!!

My main band project has now more or less 70 full songs, with tens of backing tracks, 8 recording tracks, lyrics, chords, two or more video tracks per song, 4-5 dmx tracks per song, 12 global stacks, 20 out channels (mainmaster, single instruments out to pa, 6 iem mixes outs) global groups, song groups, more or less 50 VST plugins, tens of automation tracks, it only misses layers (we donít use VST instruments). And also a midi track who send certain notes to plugins like autotune (to fix few difficult notes that sometimes are not catched well in auto mode). Full project is now almost 100 Gb . Loads in 30 seconds at startup. No preload parts, not needed. Songs switch in a couple seconds for the heaviest ones in last versions (not a problem because global stacks stays active while loading so singers can continue to talk to audience when switching).

Did my first two shows with VST Live last weekend and I figured Iíd share my experience in case it could be of any help for possible updates. It was two pretty big shows with the same artist, same venue, back to back. I used VST live to run a video feed (with videos for all songs plus interludes) and audio, a few backing tracks, plus click track and a separate cue track for IEM.

I assembled things at first in Cubase, exported as media project and imported in Live. All in all, the shows were a great success and the project ran really well from start to finish.

Been test running this update for two days straight with our fairly complex video show and Iím happy to report that everything is working perfectly so far! Not one single crash, glitch or hiccup.

I run an entire 6 musicians band live thru VST, lights, videos, 50plugins, effects automation, autotunes, 6 iem monitors out, click and cues, lyrics, etc etc all thru VST live on a windows 11 laptop and a 18in 20 out audio interface, rock solid. If you ask me itís absolutely worth the switch. Bugs are tackled and squashed as soon as you write on this forum, Two very active and responsive

We put the software at a very heavy load using it to play many backing tracks, click and cues, lyrics, live instrument directly in a 18in 20out audio interface, including drums with yamaha ead-10, apllying vst effects (eq, compressor, limiters, autotune, chorus, reverb, delay etc) and amps simulations, couple keyboards layers vsti, effects automation, video playback, routing to 4 iem out and 13 single instruments line outs to FOH (we substituted stage splitters, DIs, stage monitor and mixers, all done within vst live)Ö all working flawlessy at very low latency. We are in the process of adding dmx light programming to the whole show.

This is an EXCEPTIONAL piece of software, no other live hosts has all the features daw oriented like vst live, actively developed week by week adding features and solving bugs as requested by us users!! Iím using ALL the features of a live show, except MIDI tracks live ( just a midi track to send automation changes to effects) i have 8 live input stacks, all with loads of vst effects automated, all premixed, all recorded as clean signal in multitracks during the show, i have metronome and cues, 4 in ear sends, 13 single channels output to foh, video to projector, second video with break-out lyrics for the singer, DMX that controls 13 fixtures Ö all with less than 100Ä software that can run all on a single pc. this is also the only program that has a transport tempo based dmx,daw like and midi like, for controlling dmx channels and once i drawed basic colors and movement in single events, itís a matter of copy paste and it adapts to different tempo when i copy between songs - Thank you again for your wonderful job!!!

Every release is better and better than the last one!

Today I had my first live with VL and it was version 2.2.52. Yesterday I saw that there is new pre-release 2.2.53 and I snap my fingers, saying ìdonít update your system before project endî :slight_smile: I had prepared all songs with 2.2.52 and everything was okay. Of course I didnít use all features I would like to use on my show, but it was simple show for short time for local event where I perform some of my songs. Used audio tracks with main music and backvocals, but for live mic I used Stack with all four slots filled using stock, Waves and UA plugins and having sends to NI reverb and delay. As said, everything was perfect. Backvocals, some songs have 3-4 tracks, were recorded in VL and processed (export/import) to free VL CPU usage. Here was very hot today. Some 30 C, but laptop was twice as hot in sun at 16 oíclock. I wondered how UR44C and Yamaha MG10XU felt - I couldnít keep my hand on the back of the mixer for long. Everything is painted black and very hot! To encourage others - the VL is the tool I felt I can go on stage alone as I dreamed for quarter of century :slight_smile: Just BRILLIANT!

...game changer, now we set up everything, do a line check and master equalization, and we are ready, everything is saved in the project ready to go!

Huge improvement for CPU optimization with high plugin count and heavy plugins!!! Game changer!

Hello everyone, Now version 3 is out and the application has become well established, I am curious to see what the main uses of it are for. I originally bought it as a keyboard player, for playing virtual instruments (VI) in a live gig. For creating patches that could mix various different VIs together in one place. For its low system resources and its ability to create multiple different parts for a song and switch instantly between them. For this, it has proved an excellent solution. There is nothing else that runs so lean and efficiently. It lets me run 8 layers of VIs simultaneously, from heavyweight synth patches in Omnisphere, large sampled piano libraries and multiple instruments from orchestral libaries. All on a 2021 Windows laptop. It is so good at this, I use it more now at home than when gigging. I much prefer playing to recording. I love leaving the DAWs turned off and firing up a project in VST Live to play my chosen synths and other instruments. VST Live makes this effortless. It even handles the midi mapping for my keyboard controls and selection of the right settings, patches and effects.

My entire musical life and projections for great-times through live playing were inspired and then solved by finding and then using VST LIVE when i first came out. Itís now breath-takingly usable. Nothing touches it, and itís, what, less than 24 months now since the 1st release? Iíll be stickiní with STEINBERG. We can get a reply FROM the writers! (the Devs) How AWESOME is that! Outsmarting temporary software quirks is a skill, a power, that can be developed, which benefits from passion and drive and questioning oneself, you may agree. Heck, clear, well written reports of weirdnesses are what the DEVs love to receive. I came back to Steinberg after 16+ years because of VST LIVE.

You guys listen (read) the reports, and I love it when bugs that I have reported get addressed and fixed — that makes us (the community) feel that we are building a product together.

We love that everything from live chord visualization over automatic VST changes in layers to MIDI CC messages to trigger patch changes in external hardware works like a charm.

I feel VST Live is much more flexible in terms such as MIDI bindings (the keyboard shortcut editor also allows MIDI learn functionality for MIDI controllers, so each keyboard shortcut can also be mapped to a MIDI controller) and the developer team actually listens and responds here.

It really is a game changer being able to create a light show in a Light App (Freestyler in my case), then trigger the light cues/scenes using a VSTL MIDI track to record DMX instructions into a VSTL DMX Track. Result: Perfect synced light show — backing track — layers — lyrics, etc. Anyway, just wanted to thank you for all the help.

With this post I would like to tell you about my positive experiences regarding the use of “Live” in my live shows. In the last few days I’ve been using it intensively in various concerts, some with the use of MIDI modules and external keyboards, others exclusively based on Virtual Instruments. “Live” has never crashed, has never given signs of instability, has always done its job very well and I’m fully satisfied! I thank the team for working hard, for accepting the suggestions and for understanding the needs of so many of us. Great job guys, thank you very much!

This summer I used it intensively (almost a concert every evening) with complex projects. I use it to manage all the sounds of my keyboards (both VST Instruments and external MIDI modules). In my experience it has been exceptional — never a problem.

The team is fantastic and really helpful, and many of the requests I made were brought into the program very quickly. I highly recommend VST Live to anyone who asks me how I manage my keyboards live.

Now I use VstLive for any concert I play. I sing different genres of music, from classical to jazz and rock, and I play piano and guitar, and VSTLive is really cool when you have to manage different instruments with backing tracks. I was in Cypro last week for a recital, crossover Italian Opera Pop music, and I used it — it was great. I had everything under control: lyrics, click, tracks. I will be soon in Russia and Cypro for other concerts, and I will use it also for a Queen tribute show in San Petersburg and Moscow. I often play with different musicians around the world and VstLive is really an amazing solution when I can use it.

One great feature of VST Live is that, since we have the stems for each band member’s instrument, we can still rehearse even if someone can’t attend — we just unmute the track of the absent musician. It’s also useful for soundchecks when a band member is missing.

Now all my show runs from VST Live — lyrics, backing tracks, axe fx, voice live and lights!!

I have chosen VSTLive as primary app… I find the VSTLive parts structure very convenient to program sound presets on my external instruments.

I’m using VST Live now since more than one year and starting with it in 2023… I like it and would not want to miss it on stage.

VST Live is very intriguing because I have several customers who perform on their own or with few musicians with backing tracks. This program is just what they need to upgrade their show. I’m really impressed about the ease of use and the versatility of VST Live.

I have never seen any support-team that works faster than the VSTL-Team — thanks! I understand the concept and use it with growing enthusiasm. I used it on stage (approx. 10x) and had no issues.

Show was at a ranch and we powered our rig with multiple generators… Happy to report that we did not have a single issue with VST Live 2 during the show or anything leading up to it. The latest builds have been very stable for me, so thanks to the team.

Played the first gig my band with VST Live last Saturday in the Knust club in Hamburg… No hiccups, all fine. Really liked the easy setlist-driven song switching and the good integration with my master keyboard — could operate everything without ever touching my laptop.
